Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring just before halftime, capitalizing on a defensive error from Dortmund's Mats Hummels. Dominik Szoboszlai doubled Leipzig's lead midway through the second half with a stunning free kick, leaving goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with no chance.
Leipzig put the game to bed in the 81st minute when Dani Olmo converted a penalty after Erling Haaland was adjudged to have fouled Angelino. The result is a significant setback for Dortmund, who now trail Leipzig by three points and have lost ground in the Bundesliga title race.
Meanwhile, Leipzig's victory extends their unbeaten streak to six games across all competitions and consolidates their position as one of the favorites for the Bundesliga title.
